Tips for a Fast and Successful Dental Implant Recovery

April 16, 2021

There’s no question dental implants in North Tampa are the best option when it comes to replacing missing teeth. Dental implants are biocompatible screw-like posts that your oral surgeon will insert into your jawbone. Attached to these posts are abutments where the dental crowns are anchored.

Once they are installed, your oral function is fully restored. Since the procedure is surgical, you’ll need to be extra attentive to your activities post-op. It’s important to follow your oral surgeon’s advice for a fast and successful recovery

How to Achieve Quick and Successful Dental Implant Recovery

Immediate Recovery

After getting your dental implants, you will not feel anything due to the effect of the anesthesia. Once it wears off, you’ll feel a bit of discomfort.

It’s important to bite down on the piece of clean gauze in your mouth to control the bleeding. Change the gauze every 30-60 minutes or when it’s already soaked in blood. Most importantly, limit your activities. Avoid excessive movements, lifting, and bending as much as possible.

First Seven Days Recovery

Roughly a week after surgery, you should be able to resume your normal oral care routine. Brush and floss daily, but be gentle. You can also start eating your favorite foods, but make sure you steer clear from hard and chewy foods that will cause extra pressure on your implant site.

Mashed potatoes, noodles, eggs, bread, fish, and oatmeal are ideal. Don’t overwork yourself. Save your energy for a much later time because you haven’t fully recovered yet.
