How long do dentures in 33548 last? Statistics reveal that complete dentures can last between five years up to a decade with a maximum lifespan of 15 years. During this time, your mouth will undergo changes. You should let your dentist know so your dentures can be adjusted according to the changes.

This is necessary to achieve a perfect denture fit. Immediate dentures or temporary dentures will only last between two to three months. These are usually given while you wait for your permanent dentures to be ready. However, dentures only last for years when they are properly cared for.

The List of Do’s and Don’ts of Denture Care

Do’s When Taking Care of Partial or Full Dentures

  • You must carefully handle your dentures because although they are designed to be durable, they can bend and break if you accidentally drop them. This reminder is especially useful when you’re cleaning your dentures in the sink.
  • Remove your dentures and rinse them when you’re done eating.
  • Remove your dentures before you sleep and soak them in warm water (for dentures with metal clasps) or immerse them in a special denture cleanser to keep them protected against bacteria.
  • Before putting your dentures back in your mouth, you should rinse them in water.
  • Brush your dentures every day using a soft brush.

Don’ts When Taking Care of Partial or Full Dentures

  • Do not use sharp or any abrasive objects like dental scrapers and toothpicks, as these can potentially damage your dentures.
  • Avoid abrasive cleaning tools like brushes that have hard bristles, toothpastes containing harsh chemicals, and denture cleansers that have a strong solution.
  • Never use hot or boiling water when rinsing your dentures, as this can change the natural shape and contours of your dentures.
  • Don’t use any form of bleaching products as they can alter the natural color of your dentures.
