Dentures in 33548 are made of very durable material strong enough to perform the same functions natural teeth do. However, despite their strength, they are not as tough as the enamel in your teeth. Thus, caring for your dentures requires following the specific instructions of your prosthodontist to maintain their good condition.

Traditional dentures are removable replacements for missing teeth. As per a dentist’s advice, dentures must be removed when sleeping to let the gums and bones rest from the pressure of wearing dentures during the day. It also prevents sore spots in the mouth. For the duration of your sleep, soak your dentures in a water solution.

Maintaining the Good Condition of Your Dentures

Brushing

Since dentures are made of plastic, you can’t brush them using regular toothpaste because it’s too abrasive for them. Instead, you may use dishwashing liquid and a soft toothbrush. Brush all the sides softly, including the insides. You may also use denture paste. Finish the brushing process by thoroughly rinsing them with water to ensure that no residual soap is left.

Repairing Broken Dentures

You may feel like the problem is easy to fix, so you want to try repairing it yourself. However, your prosthodontist would recommend you go back to them if your dentures crack so they can repair them professionally.

Loose dentures may not always mean the adhesives are not properly doing their job. For all you know, your dentures may need readjustments.

When a prosthodontist repairs your dentures, you can prevent having problems with chewing or sore spots. Sometimes the dentures are too old and need to be replaced. Typically, dentists would recommend you visit them every year so they can check your dentures for any issues.
