Caring for Your Implants 101
Eight out of ten patients prefer dental implants in Land O Lakes to replace missing teeth. It’s easy to see why.
Dental implants are ingeniously designed to mimic the look and feel of natural teeth. Consider yourself lucky if you qualify for the procedure because once the implants are placed in your jawbone, it’s as if you never lost your teeth.
No one will be able to tell the difference between your implants and natural teeth. Although implants have a high success rate, they can still fail if you don’t care for them. How do you care for dental implants?
Dental Implants Care Guide
Caring for Single Implants
Lucky for you, caring for dental implants is not hard. All you need is to brush your teeth as you would your natural teeth using a soft-bristled toothbrush. Be selective with the type of toothpaste to use. Choose one that’s low-abrasive.
Make sure you thoroughly brush around your implant crowns. You may use an interdental toothbrush for hard-to-reach areas. It’s also recommended that you use an oral irrigator.
Caring for Overdentures
If you are wearing overdentures, we recommend you remove them every day and soak them in a denture cleaning solution.
Check your clips, locator caps, and O-rings to see if they need to be repaired or replaced. Use a denture brush to gently brush under your denture. After brushing, thoroughly rinse your overdenture with running water before wearing it.
